Outlook or Office Continual Prompting for Password Follow
If Outlook or other Office applications are continually prompting you to enter your password, especially when you’ve recently set a new password, please follow the enclosed steps.
The process for resolving this is typically to Close and/or Exit EACH MS Office application and then open one, allow it to prompt you and complete the sign-in with the DUO authentication. I can assist with this if needed, but here are itemized steps:
- Within Teams, click your User Icon in the upper right corner and select Sign Out
- Right-click OneDrive in the System Tray (bottom right corner where the Date/Time can be found) and select Quit OneDrive.
- Close all other Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Open ONE Office application, like Outlook, and when prompted please login with your USERNAME (not email address) and password. You may need to click 'More Choices' and 'Use a Different Account' if your email address is already populated.
- Once you login, you should be prompted to authenticate with DUO MFA.
- When this is successful, you can open all other necessary Office applications. Please do re-open and allow OneDrive to continue syncing.
If Office continues to prompt you, please contact the Information Services Department or enter a help request here: HP Support
