New Computer Prep MacBook Deployment Process Checklist Follow
After equipment has been properly received, placed into inventory and rental billing perform the following:
- In objective 1 Enter the SN of the Mac and Place the SN as the Asset tag and add the rental billing for that department.
- Notate the ticket with All accessories and SN if Applicable
Please note that this is the base list of applications and there are often additional applications required. Additionally, if the deployment is a replacement item, there will be *items to copy from the computer coming out of service.
Prerequisites:
Set Up Mac User Account
- Choose Language and region
- Transfer Data Choose setup as New
- Accessibility Not now
- Create A Mac Account Administrator with Password that we use for Default make sure you uncheck Allow computer account password to reset your apple account
- It may have ask to update software before proceeding forward.
Run Software Updates:
- Software Updates – Apple Logo> System Settings > General > Software Update > will check for updates and update now.
*After updates a restart may be required*
Remote Desktop Application:

VPN Application:
- Checkpoint Install & Firewall – Download and install https://support.checkpoint.com/results/download/141622
After installation it will ask you to configure New Site IP address 216.237.217.242 name City and then enable the Firewall in system settings> privacy and Security>App Management> Add (+)> Enter Credentials for machine> Navigate to applications> Checkpoint Firewall

- Create Account for User have them Create a Password
- Set default apps to user preference
- Configure Email (connect Office 365 account, configure signature if requested)
- Review settings and applications for accuracy to users Preference
To Access Shared Folders on the Highpoint Server
The drives should be mapped ***Must be Hardwired via docking station or VPN connection
Our infrastructure team has updated the paths of the network drives.
If you are unable to connect, please follow the instructions below:
Open finder --> Go --> Connect to Server
Below are the updated paths:

Y: smb://highpointnc.gov/root/dept$/dept
Z: smb://highpointnc.gov/root/shared
***To keep the drives in the side bar, do the following: Click on the drive --> File --> Add to sidebar
Adding A Printer:
System Settings> Printers and Scanners> Add Printers> Use IP address> Leave internet Printing Protocol> Add > Test Print 2nd method add printer via air print as the protocol>use the host name in the Address field > Add > Test print
Final Steps
- Verify Update rental billing for new and old pc and deploy. Tag the Laptop with the Property of City of Highpoint PC Sticker and Add the Computer In Obj1 using the Sn and the new tag number
