PayPal Imposter Emails Follow
We have received numerous reports about suspicious emails claiming to be from PayPal. These emails are particularly deceptive because they are sent by imposters who have set up PayPal accounts, making the emails originate from legitimate-looking paypal.com email addresses. Additionally, the links within these emails often direct users to actual paypal.com pages, which is why we are unable to block these emails internally. Blocking all emails from PayPal would inadvertently prevent legitimate communications as well.
What to do if you receive emails from PayPal imposters:
PayPal has provided guidance on how to handle these suspicious messages. If you’re unsure whether an email that appears to be from PayPal is legitimate, do not click on any links, call any listed phone numbers, or download attachments. Instead, forward the entire email to phishing@paypal.com and then delete it from your inbox. You can find more details here, including instructions for handling suspicious SMS messages from PayPal.
To reiterate, we cannot prevent these emails from being received. As the recipient, you should either forward the message to phishing@paypal.com and then delete it, or simply delete the message if you prefer not to forward it.
Thank you for your vigilance.
